Angry Father Beats Daughter To Death For Calling Boyfriend With His SIM

• The victim was rushed to a prayer house at Ikot Iya village instead of being taken to a hospital.

THE NATION REPORTERS reports that the police in Akwa Ibom have arrested a man, Akaninyene Sunday Okokon, for allegedly killing his 16-year-old daughter, Abasiono, for using his sim card to call her boyfriend.

Okokon along with 195 others were paraded at the command’s headquarters, in Uyo on Friday.

Commissioner of Police said the suspect was arrested by operatives of Ikot Ebo Divisional Headquarters.

The CP said the father beat his daughter until she fainted and died for using his sim card to call his boyfriend.

He said the victim was rushed to a prayer house instead of a hospital.

The CP said: “On 11th December, 2022, relying on redible Information, operatives of Ikot Ebo Divisional Headquarters arrested one Akaninyene Sunday Okokon who beat up his daughter until she fainted, one Abasiono Akaninyene Sunday aged 16, for using his SIM card to call her boyfriend.

“The victim was rushed to a prayer house at Ikot Iya village instead of being taken to a hospital.”

The commissioner of police said the other suspects were arrested for various offences bordering on murder, kidnapping, theft, cultism and pipeline vandalism, among others.
