Presidential Election: Yoruba Group Congratulates Tinubu
A Yoruba group, Agbajowo Fun Itesiwaju Iran Omo Oduduwa, has congratulated the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the vice president-elect, Kashim Shettima on their presidential election victory.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Tinubu secured 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) who polled 6,101,533 votes.
The group in a statement by its National Coordinator, Barrister Olumide Odutola also thanked the people of Osun, especially the 343,945 voters who came out last Saturday to cast their ballots in favour of the President-elect, saying that their labour would not be in vain.
Barrister Odutola said, “The Election was hard-fought on all sides so this victory is very sweet and will be savoured for a long time. This victory affirms the trust of the Nigerian people in Tinubu.
“We commend President Buhari for sustaining confidence in Tinubu. We are also proud of him for his statesmanship in ensuring a level playing field for all the contestants and for fully respecting the indepence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“We equally rejoice with senators-elect and Honourable members-elect of the House of Representatives over their triumph at the polls.
“We commend all political parties and their supporters for the engaging contest. We urge them to join hands with Bola Ahmed Tinubu, president-elect, to work for the utmost good and benefit of all Nigerians, irrespective of partisan political, ethnic, religious, age or gender difference.
“We wish to re-assure the President-elect of the full cooperation and support of us at all times. May God continue to bless him and our beloved Nation.”
