1. The management of Osun State College of Technology, OSCOTEH, Esa Oke has suspended the academy activities of the College.
The management also directed the students to go home for a mid-semester break from Monday, 28th August to Friday, 8th September, 2023.
This is contained in a statement on Friday by the Registrar of the College, S.O Popoola.
2. A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, Dotun Babayemi has insisted that he still remains a full-fledged member of the party.
He described his expulsion from the Osun PDP several months ago as a Kangaroo action.
In a statement on Thursday, Babayemi insisted that the actions taken by the party leadership against him was owing to the puerile mindedness of the party and their approach to rules of engagements.
3. The Osun State Government has alerted members of the public to fraudulent publication regarding the federal government’s palliative.
The government which denounced the trending publications as fake declared that it did not emanate from the state Ministry of Finance.
Making this known in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Akeem Bello on Thursday, the Osun State government urged members of the public to discount the publication, saying it was intended to mislead and swindle unsuspecting persons..
4. The Osun Government clarified no money has been received from Federal Government as the state inaugurated committee for the distribution of food palliatives to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the residents of the state.
Members of the committee were inaugurated by the Deputy Governor, Mr Kola Adewusi.
The state government, however, confirmed receiving 3,000 bags of 50kg rice from the Federal Government – additional 14,320 bags of rice and 3,000 metric tonnes of maize are still expected.
The committee inaugurated comprises of representatives of leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim community, labour unions, market women and Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria(IPAC).
The committee are expected to meet and fashion out ways of distributing the grains to the poorest of the poor in the state without rancor.
Speaking on Wednesday, the commissioner for information, Kolapo Alimi said: “Once the state receives the remaining bags of rice from the Federal Government, it will start its distribution.”
5. The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has been told that he will meet the political shocker of his life in the forthcoming Kogi Governorship Election with an abysmal defeat of the PDP.
A chieftain of the APC in Kogi, Barr. Zacchaeus Michael, made the disclosure while responding to Governor Adeleke’s Monday statement that he will be coming to Kogi to lead PDP to victory in the forthcoming November governorship election.

Barr. Michael who is the Executive Secretary, Kohi State Office of Disability Affairs described the PDP candidate, Dino Melaye as a man with no electoral value, said he could not even deliver his House of Assembly candidate in the last election.
“Kogi State is not Osun! Governor Yahaya Bello has a lot of visible achievements to showcase that will make the APC win overwhelmingly.
” On the other hand, the PDP is an empty shell. All the PDP leaders and members have all joined the APC. I wondered how the PDP will win when it has no structure, not even a single individual who can lead the party in the State in leadership.
“The PDP candidate is not marketable, his clownish politics has made him unmarketable and unsaleable.
“The scenario in Kogi is different from Osun State. The last governorship contest in Osun was one between the APC and APC, but in Kogi State, the APC is formidable with water tight followership.
Micheal who said the Osun State Governor was living in the past, streessed that he (Adeleke) will be shocked by the unprecedented defeat of his candidate.
“The APC will trounce the PDP silly. The PDP candidate will not come fourth in the forthcoming November governorship election.
6. An operative of the Department of State Security in Osun State Command, simply identified as Abiodun, allegedly stabbed and injured an estate agent, Oladele Omosola, during a disagreement over the settlement of electricity bill.
Sources in Tinumola Estate, Osogbo, where the incident happened, said Omosola, being the agent in charge of the building Abiodun lives in, had approached him to pay for electricity Tuesday evening.
It was further learnt that both Omosola and Abiodun exchanged hot words, over the issue which made the DSS operative leave the scene in anger, only to reappear a few minutes after with a jack knife, which he reportedly used to stab the agent on the thigh.
7. A Department of State Service (DSS) operative named Abiodun has been taken into custody after allegedly stabbing a property caretaker, Dele Omosola, following a heated argument over an unpaid electricity bill.
The incident, which occurred in Tinumola Estate, led to an outcry within the community.
