The Medical Laboratory Scientists and Interviewers representing the dedicated field workers who tirelessly contributed to the success of the NCD National STEPS Survey 2023 have called upon relevant authorities to compel global fund, National Agency For the Food Control of Aids (NACA) and the Federal Ministry of Health to start immediate and complete payment of the field workers.

This was revealed to our correspondent in a petition by the field workers sent on Tuesday.

According to the petition, “We, the Medical laboratory scientist and interviewers, representing the dedicated field workers who tirelessly contributed to the success of the NCD National STEPS Survey 2023, hereby submit this petition to address the issue of unpaid remunerations.

“The NCD National STEPS Survey 2023 was a crucial endeavor aimed at gathering essential data to combat non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and improve public health outcomes. Field workers played an integral role in this process, diligently collecting data, conducting interviews and on the spot laboratory investigations and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the survey results.
Despite our esteemed contributions, many field workers have yet to receive the compensation they rightfully deserve for their hard work and dedication. This situation is not only unfair but also unacceptable, as it undermines the efforts of those who worked tirelessly to fulfill their duties and responsibilities.

“We urge the responsible authorities to prioritize the resolution of this issue and ensure that all field workers involved in the NCD National STEPS Survey 2023 receive their rightful remunerations without further delay. These individuals have fulfilled their obligations with utmost professionalism and commitment, and it is imperative that they are duly compensated for their efforts.

“Failure to address this matter promptly not only damages the morale and well-being of the affected field workers but also reflects poorly on the integrity and credibility of the survey process as a whole. It is essential to uphold the principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of survey implementation, including the payment of remunerations to field workers.

“Therefore, we call upon the relevant authorities to take immediate action to rectify this situation and ensure that all outstanding remunerations are disbursed promptly and in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions. The dedication and hard work of field workers should be recognized and rewarded appropriately, as they are the backbone of successful survey initiatives like the NCD National STEPS Survey 2023.”
