Man Arrested For Robbing Two Popular Banks With Toy Gun
A Kentucky man is accused of robbing nearly $8,000 from two banks in one day while brandishing a toy gun, police said.
Cheikh Gueye, 35, was charged with robbery and resisting arrest Wednesday for targeting two banks, the Paris Police Department said in a statement posted to Facebook. Both banks were in Paris.
Gueye is also a suspect in an attempted robbery at a third bank in Georgetown earlier that day, police said.
Tellers at one of the banks told police the man slipped them a note demanding they hand over money or he would kill everybody, WKYT reported.
As police were searching for him, another robbery was reported at a second bank, investigators told news outlets.
Gueye was captured at a nearby grocery store where police determined the weapon he was carrying was fake. He told detectives “it was just a game,” WKYT reported.
