The Osun State Area Unit of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has organized its August 2024 Islamic Vacation Course (IVC), coinciding with the Society’s 70th anniversary.

This significant event is being hosted by the MSSN Modakeke Central Branch, which has been praised for its exceptional planning and hospitality.

The IVC, held three times annually, serves as a key educational and spiritual program for Muslim students across the country.

This year’s course is centered around the theme “Pathway to Salvation,” aimed at guiding Nigerians, both Muslims and Non-Muslims, on the virtues necessary to navigate the current socio-economic challenges facing the country.

The theme was discussed in-depth by the guest lecturer, As-Shaykh Abdur-Rahman Solaahudeen-Arikeusola, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to Islam, avoiding both laxity and extremism.

His lecture on Al-Wasatiyah, or the middle path, was highlighted as a crucial strategy for achieving salvation.

In his welcome address, Engr. Oyediran Asimiyu Amobi, the Amir of MSSN Osun State Area Unit, called on the Federal and State governments to intensify efforts to improve the living standards of Nigerians.

He acknowledged the ongoing efforts to rebuild the country but urged the government to take more decisive actions to alleviate the hardships currently faced by many citizens.

Engr. Amobi also appealed for the reduction of the dollar’s influence on the Nigerian economy, stressing that it has a detrimental impact on the livelihoods of the populace.

Engr. Amobi further urged Nigerians to refrain from destructive protests, advocating instead for constructive dialogue with the government at all levels.

He also called on traders to act with integrity and avoid exploiting the lack of effective price control measures, which only exacerbates the suffering of the people.

Additionally, the Amir emphasized the need for the government to address the growing issue of examination malpractices, which has severely undermined the country’s education system.

The formal opening ceremony was chaired by Alhaji Lateef Oladoye, with Hajia Fadeelah Oke serving as the chairperson and the FOMWAN Modakeke Branch under their Amirah, Hajia Sikirat Okeleye, as the Mother of the Day.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Alhaji (Dr.) Abdul-Fatai Adesina Kolawole, the Baba Adinni of Osun State; Hon. Justice Sikiru Oke, the Giwa Adinni of Osun State; and Alhaji (Prince) Tajudeen Oke, among others.

The presence of veterans of the MSSN, such as Ustadh Ishaq Awwal, the former Vice President International, further added to the significance of the occasion.

The event witnessed presentation of meritorious award to Baba Adinni Osun.

The 2024 IVC at Modakeke is not just a religious gathering but a crucial platform for addressing the pressing issues facing the nation and the Muslim community.

The MSSN Osun State Area Unit continues to play a pivotal role in fostering both spiritual and societal growth through such impactful events.
