BREAKING: Blackout In Aso Rock As Power Outage Hits Major Places In Abuja
A significant power outage has hit key areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including Aso Rock, leading to a blackout that has disrupted activities in various government and residential areas.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday evening.
It stated that the power outage, which began earlier today, is due to a technical fault in the 45MVA Transformer at the Apo Transmission Substation.
The statement reads, “This is to inform residents in FCT around State House (Villa), Police HQ, Chief Justice Office, Court of Appeal, Parts of Asokoro District, Protea Hotel, Jimmy Carter Street, Yakubu Gowon Crescent, Kwame Nkrumah Crescent, Nelson Mandela Street, Gnassingbé Eyadéma Street, Ecowas, World Bank, TY Danjuma Street, Coza Church, State Govt. Lodges, Parts of Central Area, the entire Garki District, the entire Lugbe, Lugbe Shorite, Airport Road, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NJI, NASRDA, NABDA, Riverpark Estate, War College, Dunamis, NIGCOMSAT, Nigeria-Korea Model School and all its environs that the current power outage is due to a technical fault on the 45MVA Transformer TR2 Apo Transmission Substation serving these areas.
“The TCN team is working tirelessly to rectify the fault and restore power supply as quickly as possible.
We regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience. Thank you.”
