The operatives of the Osun State Police Command on Tuesday re-arrested popular social media influencer and member of the Omoluabi Progressives, Qomarudeen Oladepo, popularly known as Adabanija for the second time.

Recall that Adabanija, who was earlier arrested by the police on Thursday, October 3, for allegedly defaming the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola.

The Aregbesola loyalist had posted on his Facebook page on September 30, 2024, that Oyetola used the bags of rice that were given to him by President Bola Tinubu to distribute to the people of Osun as souvenirs on his 70th birthday.

He was, however, released on October 7, five days after his incarceration, due to public outcry.

Sources told Osun Defender that the latest arrest is due to a recent Facebook post, where Oladepo praised Governor Ademola Adeleke for paying the salary arrears owed workers in Osun State, which Oyetola failed to do when he was in charge.

The post reads, “Payment of backlogs of modulated salary; governor Ademola Adeleke is doing wonderfully well unlike Oyetola who refused to pay.”

Organising and Publicity Secretary, Omoluabi Progressives, Abosede Oluwaseun, confirmed Adabanija’s re-arrest in a telephone interview with Osun Defender.

“Yes. It is true that Adabanija has been re-arrested. We are on our way to the Police headquarters to find out why he has been arrested.

“If his offence his criminal, he should be charged to court immediately. We do not want him to be incarcerated again. We learnt he was arrested this morning because of a Facebook post criticising Mr. Gboyega Oyetola. This is unacceptable,” Oluwaseun said.
