Outrage As House Of Assembly Aspirant Receives Award From Black Axe Cult Group (Video)
A wave of outrage has greeted the recent recognition of Jimmy Ogoh Nart, a former aspirant for the Benue State House of Assembly, as the “Most Coordinated Member” of the Neo-Black Movement of Africa (NBM), widely alleged to be affiliated with the Black Axe cult group.
The award ceremony, which reportedly took place in Otukpo, Benue State, has sparked heated debates over the growing connection between Nigerian politics and controversial organizations.
Nart, who sought to represent the Adoka/Ugboju Constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, was seen in a viral video receiving the award amidst applause from fellow members of the NBM.
Dressed in a white outfit and black beret, the politician was captured exchanging symbolic greetings with other members, fueling speculations about his active involvement with the organization, which has long been linked to violent crimes and cyber fraud globally.
Reacting to the backlash, Nart took to his social media page to express gratitude to the NBM for the “prestigious award.”
In his post, he described the group as a platform for humanitarian activities and denied any ties to cultism.
“I am a humanitarian and a proud member of the Neo-Black Movement of Africa. Our organization is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and focuses on empowering youths,” he stated.
He further dismissed allegations of Black Axe affiliation as baseless, attributing them to social media misinformation.
However, existing research and reports have continued to connect the NBM with the infamous Black Axe confraternity.
A recent study by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies identified NBM as the parent body of Black Axe, a group accused of transnational crimes, money laundering, and violence.
The incident has reignited discussions on the infiltration of cult-linked groups into Nigerian politics, with concerned citizens calling for a thorough investigation into the activities of such organizations and their political allies.
The controversy surrounding Nart’s recognition by the NBM has left many questioning the integrity of political aspirants and the potential impact of such affiliations on governance and public trust.
