Fire Razes Students’ Hostel In Osun, Destroys Properties
Tragedy struck some student of Osun State Polytechnic, OSPOLY, Iree as fire razed a students’ hostel in the Igaa 1 area of Iree.
It was gathered that the fire incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.
Findings revealed that the fire incident which has destroyed documents and other valuables of the affected students was reportedly caused by “poor power connections’.
The eye witness who spoke with Osun Defender under condition of anonymity, noted that no life was lost and no injury was recorded in the fire outbreak, but school documents and other valuables that belonged to students, who are residents of the hostel were destroyed by the fire.
He added that many of the students who reside in the razed hostel have yet to resume school, noting that many of the students were not around when the fire accident happened.
The witness further stated, “Firefighters arrived shortly after the flames subsided. With their assistance, we managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other hostels.”
Meanwhile, efforts to contact the agent responsible for the hostel that was engulfed in flames have been unsuccessful, as he has not responded to calls as of the time of filing this report.
