Why I Stayed At K1’s Mum’s Burial Despite His Refusal To Apologize To Muslim Clerics – Onikijipa

In the wake of the recent “Ganusi” controversy, renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa has provided clarity on his decision to remain at the Fidau prayer of Fuji maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, despite the latter’s refusal to apologize to Muslim clerics.
Addressing the incident, Sheikh Onikijipa emphasized the importance of patience and exemplary conduct in Islamic teachings.
He stated, “We are the ones calling people to Islam, so our actions must reflect patience and good character. If I had angrily left the place, people would have criticized us, saying, ‘They call themselves men of God, yet they lack patience.'”
Sheikh Onikijipa recounted a previous gesture by K1, highlighting the mutual respect between them.
He recalled that on the day K1’s mother passed away, the musician chose to attend his daughter’s wedding, even though others advised against it.
“He left his people and his mother’s burial ceremony to honor my family. Out of respect, I decided to honor him in return,” the Sheikh noted.
Regarding the controversial remarks made by K1, Sheikh Onikijipa acknowledged human imperfections and suggested the need for guidance.
He remarked, “Perhaps we need to counsel him on proper conduct.” He further explained that confronting K1 publicly during the Fidau prayer could have led to greater embarrassment and potential estrangement from the faith.
Sheikh Onikijipa concluded by emphasizing the value of maintaining one’s dignity in the eyes of Allah, regardless of human actions.
He shared that K1, upon realizing his mistake, expressed remorse and sought prayers for his late mother, indicating his genuine contrition.
