A leaked audio recording has revealed that the Presidency has allegedly directed security agencies, including the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS), to accompany members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in taking over local government secretariats across Osun State on Wednesday.

In the audio, Senator Mudashiru Hussein, a top APC leader, was heard instructing party members to mobilise at their respective local government police stations, where security operatives would lead them to seize control of the councils.

According to Hussein, the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the DSS, and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have all received directives to enforce the takeover.

“Tomorrow, we must mobilise. That is the directive from our leaders. All top leaders will be at the police station. We have to take power back from these people. We have the backing of the Presidency,” Hussein stated in the leaked audio.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has warned its members against going to the council secretariats.

The PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, reiterated Governor Ademola Adeleke’s directive for party members to stay away from the secretariats and focus on preparations for Saturday’s local government elections.

“We remind our members of Mr Governor’s directive to stay away from the secretariats. We should focus on our campaigns for the Saturday polls.

“We also alert the world to clandestine plans to arrest PDP members ahead of the elections. We are the victims. The APC is the aggressor. We call on the Inspector General of Police to stop unlawful activities in Osun State.

“We will remain peaceful. We will abide by the law. We will campaign and wait for elections on Saturday,” Bisi stated.
