Says Reinstated Council Bosses Fail To Provide Court Of Appeal Judgement CTC
The Central Bank of Nigeria has rejected the appeal by the reinstated APC Yes/No Chairmen to be recognised as the authentic council representatives in Osun State and the federal allocation released to them.
DTRUTH INSIGHTS gathered that the reinstated APC chairmen had written a letter to the CBN requesting the recognition and payment of federal allocations to them.
According to the letter with reference number ALGON/05/272 and dated February 26, 2025, the APC Yes or No chairmen based their request on the judgment of the Court of Appeal of February 10, 2025.
However, CBN while responding in a letter dated April 07, 2025, said the APC chairmdn failed to include the judgement of the Court of Appeal, Akure which they were basing their request on.
“We acknowledge receipt of your letter with Reference No. ALGON/05/272, dated 26th February 2025, but received by the Bank on 14th March 2025. Your letter was written to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, requesting for the recognition of the reinstated Local Government Chairmen and the release of Federal allocations to their respective Councils.
“Your request was based on the Judgment of the Court of Appeal (COA) of 10th February 2025, discharging the decision of the Federal High Court (FHC) Osogbo. You stated that the COA Osogbo reinstated the earlier elected Council Chairmen as the duly elected Local Government (LG) Officials of Osun State.
“Upon reviewing your letter, we observed that the Judgment of the COA Akure Division referenced and being relied upon to make your request to the Bank was not enclosed. What was enclosed with your letter, was the Order of the COA, allowing the appeal against the Judgment of the FHC, but not the Judgment of the COA that reinstated the LG Chairmen.”
