See List Of Dignitaries As Owa Adesuyi Haastrup Crowned 41st Owa Obokun Of Ijesaland

The ancient city of Ilesa was agog on Friday as Prince Adesuyi Haastrup was officially crowned the 41st Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, taking the title Owa Ajimọkọ III, amidst royal fanfare, cultural display and an outpouring of goodwill from across the country.

The coronation, which marked the end of Haastrup’s period of seclusion, drew an impressive array of dignitaries from the political, traditional, and business class, as well as indigenes of Ijesaland and well-wishers from across Yorubaland.

Leading the roll call of prominent guests were former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo; Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke; Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; and the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, who represented Governor Seyi Makinde. Also present was the former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, accompanied by his wife, Alhaja Sherifat Aregbesola.

Traditional rulers in attendance included the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye; the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal; and the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji, among others, signifying a strong show of unity and support from the Yoruba traditional institution.

In his remarks, Owa Ajimọkọ III expressed gratitude to the people of Ijesaland for their overwhelming support and pledged to champion the socio-economic development of the city.

He appealed to stakeholders across the land to rally behind his reign to move Ijesaland forward. Dignitaries who took turns to speak at the event offered prayers for a peaceful and prosperous reign for the newly-installed monarch.
