Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has announced the formal approval of the General Hospital, Ilesa, as the Teaching Hospital for the newly established University of Ilesa.

The governor made the announcement on Friday during the coronation ceremony of Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, held at the Owa’s Palace, Ilesa.

According to Adeleke, the approval marks a significant step in his administration’s ongoing efforts to transform Ilesa into a modern academic and medical hub.

He noted that over 50 courses have already been accredited at the university, and that internal infrastructure development was underway to support academic growth.

“I am glad to announce that the General Hospital, Ilesa has been approved as the Teaching Hospital for the University of Ilesa. This will boost Ilesa as a centre of medical excellence,” he said.

He added that the move was part of a broader strategy to improve healthcare delivery and educational standards in the region, promising that more partnerships and reforms were on the way.

The governor also used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to the development of Ijesaland, citing road construction, mining reforms, and educational expansion as key pillars of his administration’s agenda.
