In late October 2025, the political winds within Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party shifted decisively.

After weeks of speculation, Northern stakeholders of the party convened in Abuja and endorsed Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as their consensus candidate for national chairman.

The endorsement was announced at a high-profile gathering attended by key figures from across the North, including PDP governors, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and other senior party leaders.

Former lawmaker, Senator Ben Obi, representing Anambra Central, officially declared Turaki as the new National Chairman of the PDP on Saturday night.

3. Personal Background and Character

Born on April 3, 1957, in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Turaki hails from a respected family with a tradition of scholarship and public service.
