List Of Top Govt Officials Who Have Resigned Since Tinubu Became President
No fewer than two top government officials have resigned since Bola Tinubu became the President of Nigeria, Dtruth Insights reports.
They are;
1. Simon Lalong
Simon Lalong who was appointed as the Minister of Labour and Employment officially resigned from office on December 19, 2023.
Lalong stepped away from the role, to enable him take his seat at the Senate as Senator Representing Plateau South Senatorial District.
His resignation was confirmed in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Makut Simon Macham.
Rufai Abubakar who was appointed as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), officially tendered his resignation to President Bola Tinubu on Saturday, August 24th, 2024.
As of press time, the reason for his resignation is yet to be known.
Abubakar had taken over the reins of the NIA after his predecessor, Ayo Oke, was suspended in April 2017 by former President Muhammadu Buhari over allegations of fraud.
Oke was later dismissed on October 30, 2017, following a probe into the allegations.
In 2021, Buhari extended Abubakar’s tenure as NIA DG.
