The Osun State Government has provided an update on the progress of its new minimum wage negotiations, as the committee set up by Governor Ademola Adeleke nears the completion of its assignment.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, in response to recent discussions on the nationwide implementation of the new minimum wage.

According to the Commissioner, the committee, which was approved by Governor Adeleke, has been working diligently to finalize its recommendations for the government. The committee’s primary task is to propose adjustments based on the new minimum wage law and to ensure a smooth implementation process without any setbacks.

Alimi quoted a circular from the office of the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, which outlined the composition of the committee. The government’s team is led by Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye, while the labour side is headed by Comrade Arapasopo Abimbola Christopher, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

Other key members of the government team include the Head of Service, the Commissioners for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Information, and various permanent secretaries. The labour side features prominent union leaders from across the state’s workforce.
