Police Alert Nigerians On Terrorists’ Plan To Attack Public Gatherings

The Kano State Police Command has raised alarm over an intelligence report indicating a suspected plan by terrorists to launch attacks on public gatherings at strategic locations across the state.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, residents were urged to exercise caution and avoid crowded areas as security operatives work to neutralize potential threats.
“The Kano State Police Command, in liaison with other security agencies, has received intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning to launch attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations within Kano State,” the statement read.
The police assured the public that measures had been taken to ensure the safety of lives and property, including the deployment of experts from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Unit to key areas.
“These teams are on high alert and can be contacted through the emergency lines provided. We encourage residents to report any suspicious persons or items to the nearest police station or contact the command through 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926,” Kiyawa added.
The statement also emphasized the importance of vigilance and cooperation from residents, urging them to be proactive in reporting unusual activities.
“Public safety is a collective responsibility, and we appreciate the support and cooperation of Kano residents,” Kiyawa noted.
While commending the efforts of the security agencies, the command appealed to citizens to remain calm but cautious, stressing that the preventive measures in place would aid in identifying and dislodging potential attackers.
Residents have been advised to heed the warning and avoid unnecessary exposure to high-risk areas until further notice. The police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order, assuring the public that all necessary steps were being taken to secure the state from any form of attack.
