An old video featuring renowned Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has resurfaced online, igniting widespread debate.

WATCH THE VIDEO

In the footage, K1 addresses Islamic clerics, stating: “You Alfas, I don’t have money to give you. Please don’t preach to us so that we can spend money on you. Whatever wealth God blesses an individual with, they should understand that it is ultimately insignificant.”

The video has been met with mixed reactions. Some individuals have criticised the musician for his remarks, viewing them as disrespectful towards Islamic scholars.

Conversely, others have defended K1, suggesting that his comments highlight the importance of sincerity in religious practices and caution against materialism among clerics.

This controversy follows a recent incident where K1 faced backlash for using the term “Ga nu si” in reference to some Islamic clerics during preparations for his late mother’s Fidau prayer.

The phrase was interpreted by many as implying that certain clerics attend such ceremonies primarily for financial gain.

Despite calls for an apology, K1 has stood by his comments, asserting that he has done nothing wrong.

The re-emergence of this old video has further fuelled discussions about the relationship between religious leaders and their congregations, as well as the expectations placed upon individuals regarding financial contributions to religious institutions.

As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how this will impact K1 De Ultimate’s relationship with the Muslim community and his broader audience.
