Terrorism: Court Delivers Final Judgement On Nnamdi Kanu

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has delivered its final judgment in the long-standing trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice James Omotosho of the High Court ordered the transfer of the trial of the Nnamdi Kanu, to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.

The development, which emerged on Friday, follows the court’s directive that Kanu’s trial be moved away from the Federal High Court premises in Abuja to allow for the inspection of a shipping container linked to the case.

According to the court, the said container, which is currently in the custody of the DSS, was allegedly used by the IPOB leader to smuggle a radio transmitter into the country.

The transmitter was reportedly deployed for broadcasts on Radio Biafra — a platform central to the IPOB agitation.

Kanu is standing trial on terrorism-related charges preferred against him by the Federal Government. He has been in the custody of the DSS since his controversial re-arrest and extradition from Kenya in 2021.

Justice Omotosho held that relocating the trial to the DSS facility was necessary to enable an on-site assessment of the shipping container said to form part of the evidence against the defendant.
