Jubilation As Dr. Samaila Rukuba’s Daughter, Firdawsi, Called To Bar

It was a moment of pride and celebration on Tuesday as Miss Firdawsi Odemma Ahalu Rukuba, the second daughter of renowned political guru, Dr. Samaila A.A. Rukuba, was officially called to the Nigerian Bar.

The solemn but colourful ceremony took place at the Body of Benchers Gallery, Jabi, Abuja, where hundreds of aspiring lawyers, family members, and distinguished guests gathered for the 2025 Call to Bar ceremony.

Firdawsi, 23, joined the revered rank of Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, earning her place among the nation’s growing league of legal professionals after years of rigorous academic and professional training.

Clad in the traditional wig and gown, the young lawyer stood tall as her name was read out amongst the latest cohort of newly qualified legal practitioners.

Her proud father, Dr. Rukuba, watched with joy as she took her oath, marking a historic milestone for the family.

The ceremony, presided over by officials of the Body of Benchers and dignitaries in the legal profession, featured addresses on ethics, discipline, and the critical role of lawyers in nation-building.

Friends and relatives, some of whom travelled from Plateau State and other parts of the country, were seen exchanging congratulatory embraces and offering prayers for her success in her new journey.

Speaking briefly with newsmen after the event, Dr. Rukuba expressed profound gratitude and delight, noting that the occasion was a fulfilment of hard work, discipline, and divine grace.

“This is not just a personal joy for my family but a reminder of what is possible when young people are given the right foundation and encouraged to pursue excellence,” he said.
