In a quiet corner of Olonade in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, a school is quietly building an army of academic achievers. De Frances Group of Schools, established with a vision to provide all-round quality education, is fast becoming a reference point for academic excellence and disciplined upbringing in Osun State. From nursery through to secondary level, the school has continued to churn out pupils who not only excel in classroom assessments but also distinguish themselves in external examinations and national competitions.

During a recent visit by Dtruth Insights, the school premises revealed a well-structured, clean environment with dedicated staff and pupils actively engaged in various academic and extracurricular activities.

According to the management, the school’s philosophy is rooted in early academic grooming, moral instruction, and a strong partnership between teachers and parents.

“We don’t only teach for exams. We build total children—academically sound, morally upright, and socially responsible,” said a senior teacher who preferred not to be named.

The school’s track record speaks volumes. In the last academic session, pupils of De Frances recorded impressive results in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and Junior WAEC, with several pupils scoring distinctions across key subjects like Mathematics, English, and Sciences.

Beyond the classroom, the school encourages active participation in spelling bees, inter-school debates, science fairs and ICT-based projects—programmes which have seen De Frances pupils represent Ile-Ife at state and zonal levels.

Parents, too, are not left out. Regular open days, result reviews, and communication channels have helped build a strong parent-teacher bond that enhances each child’s development.

One parent, Mrs. Adeniran, whose daughter recently graduated from the school’s Junior Secondary section, commended the management. “What I appreciate most is their attention to every child. My daughter came in shy and unsure. Now she speaks confidently in public and tops her class,” she said.

As the education sector continues to face numerous challenges in Nigeria, De Frances Group of Schools appears to have found a winning formula—one that blends academic rigour with character development, modern teaching techniques with cultural values, and structure with care.

With ongoing admissions and a growing reputation, many in Ile-Ife now agree that the future indeed looks bright for pupils walking through the gates of De Frances.
