-
Ife Youths have debunked viral reports that the Muslims attacked Ooni’s palace.
THE NATION REPORTERS reports that scores of Youths in Ile Ife under the umbrella of Ife Concerned Youths have debunked viral reports which claimed that the Muslims attacked the palace of Ooni of Ife during the protest that was held on Friday.
In a statement on Tuesday by the Coordinator of Ife Concerned Youths, Olamilekan Adewale, said, “Our attention has been drawn to a purported video that is circulating on social media which claimed that the protesting Muslims in Ile Ife attacked the palace of the Ooni of Ife.
“It is pertinent to state that such report is untrue and malicious and an attempt to blackmail the protesting Muslims in Ile Ife.
“For the purpose of clarity, it is necessary to state that nobody attacked Ooni’s palace and the protesting Muslims only embarked upon peaceful process round the town. What truly happened is that the attempt by the Oro worshipers and their sympathizers to attack Muslims during the protest rally were only repelled. The scenes where Muslims were throwing stones was when they were repelling the surging Idol Worshipers who were with dane guns. The Muslims were not offensive but were on defensive throughout the period.
“In conclusion, the general public is hereby informed to always verify information before disseminating it. Thanks!.”
