OSPOLY Management Releases Fresh Update On Campus Cult Clash

The Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has broken its silence over the recent cult-related violence that erupted within the institution, assuring students, staff and the general public that normalcy has been restored.
This comes in the wake of a disturbing incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, where gunshots were reportedly fired within the school premises, leaving at least three persons injured, including a female victim who sustained a critical head injury.
Speaking to our correspondent, the institution’s Media Relations Officer, Mr Adebayo Fadeji, confirmed that the unrest stemmed from a confrontation between two suspected cult groups.
He noted that immediate steps were taken to contain the situation.
“What happened was that two groups had a disagreement. The police are around. And the situation is calm now,” Fedeji told our correspondent.
He stressed that security operatives had been deployed promptly to the scene to prevent escalation and maintain peace across the campus.
He further disclosed that the injured individuals were taken to a medical facility for proper treatment.
Sources within the institution revealed that the incident involved members of two rival cult groups — the Buccaneers and the Supreme Eiye Confraternity.
The altercation reportedly began with gunshots that sent students running for cover, triggering panic and disruption of early morning activities.
In one of the videos obtained by our correspondent, a three-man gang was seen attacking an individual with machetes near the institution’s microfinance bank — a development that further heightened fears among students and residents of the Iree community.
While investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind the attack, the Management has appealed for calm, urging students to go about their academic activities without fear, as additional security measures have been put in place.
