Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, has again been recognised for his growing national political profile as he was on Monday appointed Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention Planning Committee.

The announcement, which came as part of resolutions reached at the 4th PDP Governors’ Forum meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, further cements Governor Adeleke’s rising influence within the opposition party.

According to the communiqué signed by the Forum’s Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, the decision to saddle Governor Adeleke with such a strategic national role is in line with the party’s broader plans to reposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

DTRUTH INSIGHTS reports that the PDP Convention, scheduled to hold in the ancient city of Kano from August 28 to 30, 2025, will serve as a major turning point in the party’s efforts to stabilise its internal structure and chart a new path forward.

The Convention Planning Committee is to be chaired by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, with Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, as Secretary.

Also noteworthy from the Ibadan meeting was the Forum’s decision to replace the embattled National Secretary loyal to former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, by endorsing the Deputy National Secretary to serve in acting capacity—signalling a realignment of forces within the PDP.

The Forum also expressed unwavering support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, rejecting what it described as a “rape of democracy” through the imposition of a quasi-military administration under the guise of a state of emergency.

Meanwhile, the Forum decried the spate of insecurity across several states including Plateau, Borno, and Edo, and called for a total overhaul of the current security approach to allow for grassroots-driven protection strategies.
