Ife Lawyers Celebrate, Award Dignitaries

The Ife Lawyers have gathered together to celebrate themselves and awarded some dignitaries in the profession.

The Ife Lawyers’ Annual Get Together and Awards Evening held at Waleade Olawoyin Avenue Parakin Obalufe, on Sunday, in Ile-Ife.

In his welcome address, the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), who hosted Ife Lawyers, Prof. Wale Olawoyin, thanked God for sparing their lives till date as well welcomed his guests in Ife and extension.

Olawoyin said that the reason behind the gathering is for Ife lawyers in Ife and outside to come together to know themselves and to create opportunity for them to network among themselves.

“Our unity has a long way to go in all ramifications, therefore our familiarity and friendship as Ife lawyers will pave way for many benefits and create avenue to support and helping each other, “for united will stand and divided will fall”. He stated.

The Coordinator of Lawyers, Prof. Abiola Sanni (SAN), who doubles as the Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, thanked God for the large turnout of the members and appreciated the Host, Prof. Wale Olawoyin.

Sanni charged for more Ife lawyers to come on board, for the gathering was not meant for wine and dine alone, but the platform would be meant for productive socialisation.

According to him, the gathering is not for consulting socialisation, but to network themselves, to honour, recognise, mentor each other and to learn from senior advocates.

The Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC), Barr. Olalere Olaobaju, stated that the programme was glamorous whereby Ife lawyers indigene gather together annually to recognise their great achievements that worthy of celebration.

Olaobaju explained that the forum pave way for Ife indigene lawyers to see themselves and discuss issues that pertain to their profession and Ile-Ife at large.

According to him, they were celebrating few among others who have achievements greatly in their profession, like; Professors, PhD, Dean Faculty of law among others.

“This will energise the incoming generations to work harder, move forward and attain greater heights in the profession now and in their nearest future.

“Among the awardees are: Hon.Justice Olukayode Jimi-Bada (PCA) Rtd; Sola Ojutalayo (SAN); Omiwole Jimi-Bada(SAN);Olanrewaju Tesleem Akinsola(Onigegewura) as SAN and Bencher; Prof. Dorcas Adenaike and Dr Titilayo Onifade.

Mr Sola Ojutalayo, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who spoke on behalf of the awardees, appreciated the organisers of the programme.

Ojutalayo promised that the awardees will reciprocate their kind gesture to their association in all ramifications as well as contribute to the growth and the development of their home town.

The dignitaries that graced the occasion were: Queen Ronke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi and Prof Muibi Opeloye, the former President, Ife Development Board(IDB) among others.
